Animal Antics by Stacy

One day Chocolate went to a restaurant to eat dinner. His waiter was his friend, Snuffles. Chocolate got a big bowl of doggy chow and a side helping of dog biscuits. Chocolate was pleased because his food was delicious. He had a great night at the restaurant.
When Snuffles got off work, they had a party back at Snuffles place. Snuffles had a big mansion, and that’s why they had the party there. Chocolate and his wife, Candy, came to the party with Snuffles and his wife, Princess. They did dances, did karaoke, watched movies, and ate popcorn. They had lots of fun at the party. When they got home, Chocolate and Candy went to bed. Snuffles and Princess went to bed after Chocolate and Candy left.
The next day, Chocolate, Candy, and Princess went o have breakfast at the restaurant. They had a fabulous time because it was delicious.

The Race by Claire

Once upon a time, there were two dogs and a big giraffe. They were in a race. The first dog, ohhhh, he was so cool! He built his car out of metal. The second dog, he worried so much because he thought he would lose the race. But he was smart. He built his car out of steel. And as for the giraffe, he built his car out of wood. It looked like a dog house. He lost. Cool dog won, and you know the rest!

Something Strange by Jessica

Something Strange by Jessica
The alien didn’t see the telephone pole because he was asleep. Then he woke up because of the crash! He called the ship repairs and his dad. His dad got mad at him, and took the ship away for a month. The alien felt sad.

Friends Forever by Regan

Friends Forever by Regan
Well, this is what happened when my sister and I were playing baseball. I was batter and my sister was pitcher. After a long time, she pitched me a wicked throw. I hit it hard. I sorta hit the window. The window smashed! My mom gave me serious trouble. And that brings us to here.

The Big Bad Monster by Kyle
These kids were skateboarding down the street and one of the boys saw a monster coming out of the sewer. He was shocked and scared. He didn’t know what to do, and his friend didn’t know about the monster coming out of the sewer. Then the monster chased the boys all over the city. Soon, the boys were too tired to run anymore, so an army helicopter with nets on it came along. They shot the monster with a net, wrapped him up and took him far, far away into the jungle.

Choir Wows Pine View at Assembly by Regan

Today we had an assembly at Pine View school. The Primary and Junior choir performed for the entire school. I'm in the Primary choir and we all had to wear black pants and a white t-shirt. Both choirs sang.
Mrs. Freeman's class danced up a storm. Here are the songs they sang: "Italian Tera Tella" and the "Mexican Hat Dance".
The Primary Choir sang "We Belong", "If You Wanna Be a Star Like Me" and "Ed, the Invisible Dragon". I was scared when we sang "Ed, the Invisible Dragon" because I had to say, "Hey Ed". Then Jason said, "Did you see him?" Amelia said, "He was here a minute ago". Then the rest of the choir said, "It was Ed!".
Then everyone clapped at us and I didn't feel scared anymore. I just felt embarrassed! Then the assembly ended.

Animals by Renee

Animals by Renee
Animals should be free! Zoos can be entertaining, but hello. It's just a bunch of animals in cages! Do you know how many traps are killing animals? Zoo keepers might not care! I want to know!
Animals come in many different types: dogs, cats, and many more! Panda bears and other animals are in danger. You can help by not littering and by putting out bird feeders.
Last, but not least, you can help by putting out bat houses. Oh yeah, one more thing, you can put animal food outdoors.
Thanks for listening!

Turtles by Josh

I think turtles are great. In the booster program I suggested the name Terrific Turtles for our group name. It got four strikes, but the name Super Penguins won the tally. So we were called the Super Penguins instead, but I pretend we're called terrific turtles anyway.
Turtles lay millions of eggs. They cover them with sand so other animals such as sea gulls don't get them. They lay all of those eggs because about.....let me see...um.......about two will stay alive! That's right only two will live and 998 will die from animals like vultures, sea gulls, eagles and crabs. Just one more thing or maybe two.
Turtles live in beaches, trenches and there's a few more places I just won't name. Turtles look like a frog in a shell with a design on it.
One more thing....I LOVE TURTLES!

Attack of the Lego Toys by Kirk

Once there were people and Lego toys. They disliked each other because the Lego toys were forced to be played with by the people.
One day they got into a fight because the people wanted to play with them but the Lego toys had finally had enough!
Kirk, Calvin, and Nathan were all Lego clone trooper leaders. They fought well but Nathan's legs got snapped off by a human stepping on his legs. So Kirk found the legs and put them back on. The Lego people won the battle by surrounding the humans and hitting them with tranquilizers and then enslaving them.
All of a sudden a loud bell sounded. Kirk turned over in his bed and realized it was his alarm clock. It all ended up to be just a dream!

Qualities of Good Writing: Hot Dog Party

Hot Dog = IDEAS Ideas must be plump, juicy and full of spice.
Bun =ORGANIZATION The tip of the bun is the beginning, the crease of the bun is the middle and the bottom of the bun is the ending. Without the bun, the story and the hot dog would roll around aimlessly.
Condiments = VOICE As our hot dogs are dressed in a unit way, each child has a unique voice that they bring to their writing.
Chips = SENTENCE FLUENCY No two chips are alike as are no two sentences are alike.
Soda = WORD CHOICE Students' stories must have energetic verbs and descriptive words to create the visual images the reader needs. Like the soda, the story must be alive with fizz!
Your plate = PRESENTATION The way the food is laced on your plate makes it more appealing for you to eat.
Hot dog party itself = CONVENTIONS Students realize they must edit their work for spelling, punctuation, paragraphing and grammar mistakes.

Students work

Welcome to the first post for the new Pine View Booster Program. This Blog has been set up for students to publish some of their best work in writing. Students have been working very hard in the program to refine their writing skills. For more information on the program please access some of the other areas on the blog. Through the program students have received instruction using the Six Traits of Writing Plus One. The 'Plus One' represents the Presentation. This blog is intended for the presentation portion. All work has been edited and revised by a teacher prior to its presentation. Hope you enjoy our work.
